At the invitation of Col. Chris Funk, 482nd Fighter Wing commander, Homestead Air Reserve Base (left), Luis Cerezo, Homestead Job Corps Center director (middle) and many other community supporters participated in ribbon cutting and rededication ceremonies on the Base. The day culminated with a tour of the three new facilities which include the Sam Johnson Fitness Center, the Army Air Force Exchange Service Express and the Community Activity Center. Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, was the honored guest on August 20, 2014 at the opening and ribbon cutting ceremonies of three facilities at the Homestead Air
Reserve Base including the Sam Johnson Fitness Center. “Congressman Johnson’s fortitude and positive attitude throughout his military career including seven years as a prisoner of war is something I will be sharing with our students at Homestead Job Corps Center. He is an inspiration to all and it was truly a privilege to meet such an honored war hero” stated Lesly Diaz.
