[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Renovation Kick-off, an event held for the restoration of the Seminole Theatre took place in downtown Homestead on May 11th, 2015. With an extensive guest list, both members of the county government and the MCM were in attendance to commemorate the cultural significance of the 1920s movie palace. Notable figures that appeared include Mayor Jeff Porter, Vice-Mayor Stephen R. Shelley, Councilwoman Judy Waldman, Councilman Elvis R. Maldonado, Director of Seminole Theatre Dr. Linda Fagan, and Homestead City Manager George Gretsas.

Attending parties from the MCM were Senior Project Manager Juan Campos, General Superintendent Wayne Smith and Superintendent John Jackson. Many heartfelt thanks were given to the voters and council for pushing this project through, for the second renovation of the historic landmark from its acquisition by the City of Homestead in 1992.

This gratitude was also given to the public for giving the arts a priority in the rebuilding and restoration of the City of Homestead.  MCM was thanked for their constant commitment to the City of Homestead, due to their work in planting deep roots in the Community and for repeatedly delivering well-executed buildings in a thorough, timely service.
