Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ South Region Office and Dr. Alexis Martinez, Region Superintendent, will be hosting a Curriculum Expo featuring all schools within the Miami Killian Sr. High School Feeder Pattern on Thursday, November 7th, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at the Miami Killian Sr. High School Gymnasium, 10655 S.W. 97th Avenue, Miami, FL 33176. All current students, prospective students, their parents and community members are invited to come learn about the innovative curriculum programs, academies, magnet programs, enrichment activities, iMAP initiatives, clubs and extracurricular activities the schools have to offer. Administrators, teachers and students will be on hand to answer questions. Student performances will be featured. Participating schools include: Arvida Middle, Colonial Drive Elementary, Devon Aire K-8 Center, Gloria Floyd Elementary, Glades Middle, Kendale Elementary, Kenwood K-8 Center, Leewood K-8 Center, William Lehman Elementary, Miami Killian Senior High, Snapper Creek Elementary and Sunset Park Elementary.

Miami Palmetto Class of 73 has scheduled a 40th Reunion for the weekend of Nov. 1 – 3, 2013. The schedule for the 3 day event includes a Friday night Happy Hour Nov. 1st from 4:30 – 7:30 at The Chart House in Coconut Grove. The main event will be held Saturday night, Nov. 2nd at the Grove View Terrace of the Sonesta Bayfront Hotel in Coconut Grove from 6:30-11:30, featuring the band Blackstar. There will be an amazing Moveable Feast passed by servers and a variety of food stations. On Sunday. Cutler Bay has a new way of looking at things, thanks to the Outsider Gallery. The gallery, located at 20412 Old Cutler Road, is featuring 11 Miami artists with its first opening reception on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 6 to 10 p.m. During the gallery’s season, October to May, an opening reception will be held the first Saturday of each month. Regular hours, beginning Oct. 5 are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

The Open House will give parents and kids an opportunity to hear about music and performing arts classes for kids 6-18 years old that will be offered beginning November. The WECIAS Conservatory for the Performing Arts will offer classes in voice, piano, strings, dance, chorus, musical theatre, audition prep, “Mommy/Daddy, Music & Me” (for toddlers) and more!
