In honor of the NBA Playoff season, the Williams McCall Gallery will exhibit the original works of sports illustrator and artist Larry Johnson and the official NBA and Miami Heat artwork of Erika King. The exhibit will run until May 25th.
The exhibition of some 200 works by 135 artists is an intimate, often whimsical side of some of the greatest artists of recent times, each offering a singular vision of adornment. The exceptional and little-known works of wearable sculpture will reward viewers with new insights into the creative wellsprings of such artistic giants as Georges Braque, Max Ernst, Lucio Fontana, Louise Nevelson, Anthony Caro, Yoko Ono, and Anish Kapoor.

The three-day extravaganza, held from May 16-18, includes an exciting weekend of golf, fishing and celebrities. All proceeds from Fins Weekend benefit the Miami Dolphins Foundation. The event has raised more than $3 million for local charities.

The New World School of the Arts high school theater program closes the season with the poignant The Laramie Project, a play by Moises Kaufman and the Members of the Tectonic Theater Project. Patrice Bailey, Dean of Theater at NWSA highlighted, "This play offers an opportunity for our students to connect to a hate crime committed on a young man and to explore the different points of view of a story. It is my hope that our students will become activists of tolerance."

Judge Maruhn’s lecture will explore the German judicial system during Adolf Hitler’s reign and how it allowed decisions to be made contrary to moral and natural law. Judge Juergen Maruhn has had a long and distinguished career in the German judiciary where he currently serves as the Presiding Judge of the Appellate Court in Frankfurt, Germany. Judge Maruhn has organized seminars in Germany and the U.S. focused on the history of the German judiciary as it relates to the Holocaust and Nazism. He has also lectured on the history of Nazi health care and the Nazi perversion of medicine as it involved human experimentation and euthanasia.
