Miami-Dade County Public Schools South Region will host two Curriculum Fairs on Saturday May 18,2013. The first will be for the Miami Southridge Senior High Feeder Pattern from 11am-2pm at the South Dade Regional Library at 10750 SW 211th Ave and the second Curriculum EXPO will be at the Falls Shopping Center for the Miami Palmetto Senior High and the Miami Killian Senior High Feeder Patterns from 2pm-5pm at 8888 SW 136th Street.

A Golden Affair, Iota Pi Lambda Education Foundation Cocktail Fundraiser
Join the Brothers of the Iota Pi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. for A Golden Affair. Guests will be entertained by several hours of music, appetizer and dessert selections, top-shelf open bar, and have opportunities to bid on a number of luxury packages from top hotels, spas, and restaurants in Miami.
All proceeds raised go to the Iota Pi Lambda Education Foundation to support its ongoing community outreach initiatives. The Foundation will be awarding its annual high school scholarship to a deserving local student from the community.
Cocktail attire is a must, dress code will be strictly enforced. Ladies, cocktail dresses or semi-formal evening wear. Gentlemen, dress slacks and button down shirt required - coat and/or tie highly recommended.

Zoo Miami’s Earth Day celebration – Party for the Planet – will be held Saturday and Sunday April 20 and 21, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Tropical Flowering Tree Society will be hosting its annual plant show and sale. There will also be fun “green” activities and entertainment for the entire family as well as animal enrichment with recycled items and/or natural materials like newspapers, cardboard tubes, bamboo, old tires, fire hoses, and more. South Dade YMCA Ribbon Cutting and Dedication

South Dade YMCA Family Center Hosts 11th Annual Taste of Pinecrest
The 11th Annual Taste of Pinecrest will be held at the new South Dade YMCA Family Center, located at 9355 Southwest 134 Street, Miami, FL 33176 on Sunday, April 7 at 11 a.m. Successfully produced for 10 years by the Pinecrest Business Association (PBA), the Taste of Pinecrest has generated more than $250,000 in donations to Pinecrest’s local schools. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever, with the first ever partnership between the PBA and the YMCA of Greater Miami.
As the first community event being hosted at the new South Dade YMCA Family Center, guests will have the opportunity to experience the new Family Center as well as spend the day with celebrity chefs, who will be hosting cooking demonstrations, presenting healthy cooking tips and food preparation techniques. Take your taste buds on a tour of what Pinecrest has to offer by sampling the local fare and enjoying South Florida’s finest food trucks. Bring your entire family to enjoy a full carnival, activities and interactive art installation for kids, the main stage with local bands and student performances as well as a complete wellness and business expo.
