Exploding into the jazz world in 1971, Stanley Clarke was among the first bassists in history to master both acoustic and electric bass with equal virtuosity, headline tours and selling out shows worldwide. In addition to his solo career and his innovate film and TV scores, his collaboration with other legends like George Duke, Chick Corea, Jeff Beck and others has expanded the boundaries of contemporary jazz. The Harlem String Quartet, resident ensemble at the New England Conservatory of Music’s Professional String Quartet Program, is a cutting-edge modern classical group that proves capable of nailing Clarke’s complex charts and demonstrates great capacity for content-rich improvisation.
