“The Two Elaine’s” take the stage, as Orchestra Miami presents internationally renowned soprano Elaine Alvarez in recital with Orchestra Miami Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi. Both artists were born, raised and educated in Miami. Since making her break-out debut with the Lyric Opera of Chicago in 2007, Elaine Alvarez has been stunning audiences at the world’s major opera houses with her artistry and lush lyric voice.
Alvarez has been mentored and trained by the top artists in the world, including soprano Renata Scotto and Marilyn Horne. A finalist in the 2006 Placido Domingo Operalia Competition, Alvarez made international headlines with her critically acclaimed, 11th hour debut as Mimi in the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s production of La Boheme. A succession of debuts quickly followed in major opera houses around the world, most notably on tour with Maestro Riccardo Muti, assuring her place as one of America’s most promising operatic stars. Most recently, Alvarez has been featured on the Howard Stern Show as the Opera Assistant, bringing opera to new audiences through unconventional means.
The program focuses on songs of the Romantic period and features a variety of compositions by Bizet, Liszt, Turina, Villa-Lobos, Strauss, Lecuona and Sanchez de Fuentes. The performance will also feature projected translations of the texts in English and Spanish. Orchestra Miami thanks the Yamaha Piano Music Center for providing the piano for this performance.
The recital will be on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 8:00 PM at Pinecrest Gardens’ Banyan Bowl, located at 11000 SW 57 Avenue, Pinecrest, FL 33156 (free on-site parking available).
