[dropcap]O[/dropcap]n May 7th, Divine Savior Academy will host the Shark Shootout Golf Tournament, an annual event that raises money for the school’s athletic programs. Hosted on Trump National Doral’s Silver Fox Course, the tournament is a stone’s throw from Divine Savior Academy on 58th Street.

Proceeds from this year’s Shark Shootout benefit the school’s athletic facilities expansion, part of DSA’s new high school construction. The expansion will include four tennis courts, a soccer/football field, expanded playground, gymnasium, weight room, and a dance studio.

Dan Unke, DSA’s Athletic Director, comments, “These facilities will help us take the next step in elevating all our athletic programs.  Our athletes will have ample space for practices and games, and we will start serious strength training with our new state-of-the-art weight room and fitness center.  The combination of these things creates a lot of potential and excitement for the future of DSA athletics.”

Everyone is welcome to attend the May 7th event. The itinerary begins at 7:00 a.m. with registration, pre-round putting, and driving range practice. The tournament kicks off at 8:15 a.m. with a shotgun start and team scramble tournament format.

After 18 holes on the Trump National Doral course, the day concludes with a post-round meal, awards, and silent auction at the Trump National Clubhouse. Last year, silent auction items included Dolphins tickets with Club Liv access, Cirque du Soleil tickets, and autographed Miami Heat memorabilia.

Registration and more information is available at DSASharkShootout.com or at the school office (10311 NW 58th Street in Doral). Participants can register as single players or foursomes, while businesses can participate as sponsors that receive advertising in event programs, on tee boxes, and at the DSA website. Lead sponsors include Cornerstone International Realty, Moss/Lebolo, and the Terra Group.

“The Shark Shootout is a great opportunity to come together as a community to support our youth. Not only is it a great cause, the tournament is also a lot of fun!” comments DSA Superintendent Carlos Leyrer.

Divine Savior Academy is the only private Christian school in Doral, Florida with over 600 students enrolled in Pre-K3 through 12th grade. Its new high school and athletic facilities will open for the 2015-2016 school year.
