On Friday June 24, the Doral Business Council (DBC) will be front and center at the first Doral Business Run. The event “Running with Purpose”, pledges to engage Doral Businesses and Residents, Promote Networking and Employee Healthy Lifestyle, Giving Back by Partnering with local non-for-profits, and becoming the largest annual 5/10K run in Doral.
DBC members, Runner’s Co. created the event while Excel Sports Events Production and Management are the producers. The Doral Business Run will be a timed event sanctioned by USA Track & Field (USATF), the national governing body for track and field, longdistance running and race walking in the United States.
“This event is not just a business run, but also a competitive road race offering both a 5K and 10K,” said Lidio Britto, Owner of Runner’s Co. “There are relatively few 10K runs in Miami- Dade County – most are 5K’s. This is a huge attraction for runners because it offers a bigger challenge,” he added.
The Doral Business Run is planned for June 24, in celebration of the City of Doral’s 8th anniversary. Therefore, it’s logical that the start and finish lines will be in front of City Hall, located at 8300 NW 53rd Street. The 5K (3.1 miles) and 10K (6.2 miles) will be a closed loop course throughout the streets of downtown Doral.
Corporate teams and individuals can sign up for both the 5K and 10K races. Corporate teams must consist of a minimum of 3 runners (2 males + 1 female or 1 male +2 females for coed). All team members must be employed full time to qualify.
In order to encourage businesses to participate, the Doral Business Run is scheduled for Friday afternoon, starting at 6:30 p.m. At the end of the event a celebration complete with music, awards, food and beverages will be held for participants, volunteers, spectators, and the community. Other attractions include:
• Age group and corporate team category awards
• Professional chip timing
• Tech shirt for first 500 • Medals for everyone who crosses the finish line
The Doral Business Run is very professionally planned and coordinated using the highest quality of equipment, awards and give-aways. Supported by the City of Doral, Doral Business Council, Flagler, Downtown Doral, Baptist Health South Florida and Perry Ellis International, the Doral Business Run will offer free parking on the site with access from NW 79th Avenue.
