The 2014 new year kicks off a very special celebration for Divine Savior Academy: its ten-year anniversary. Since 2004, the Academy has been serving PreK3 to Grade 12 students with its education programs, athletic teams, and student organizations.

The school has also been serving the Doral community for 10 years, hosting such events as Doral Farmer’s Market, The City of Doral Special Olympics Team, and Doral seniors groups.

Local organizations and clubs like Born2Learn, Doral Conservatory, Team Taekwondo, the Doral Volleyball Academy, Pure Basketball, and Doral Music have also used DSA’s facilities to meet, practice and compete.

“It’s been extremely exciting to watch DSA and the City of Doral grow and expand. We’re thrilled to be a part of this thriving community,” enthused Principal Ben Troge.

Sharing an exciting decade of growth with the City of Doral, Divine Savior Academy purchased land 10 years ago on N. W. 58 St. when the road was mostly undeveloped. Now, it serves Doral as a bustling thoroughfare.

In 2004, the school had 26 students enrolled in eight classrooms, now grown to more than 540 students on the current campus.

In the excitement of its tenth anniversary year, DSA’s administration is looking forward to even more growth: a brand-new high school set on an adjoining 7.75 acres of land.

Located to the north of the current campus, the new stand-alone building will include 23 classrooms, 4 science labs, an outdoor classroom, a high school gymnasium, a weight room, media center, chess room, dance studio, art rooms, music labs and more.

In addition to serving 400-plus high school students, the campus will also accommodate DSA’s PreK to 12th grade programs with expanded grounds and facilities. Four tennis courts, a soccer/football field, additional playground area, and over 200 more parking spaces will be added.

“Hopefully, the new addition is planned to open doors for the 2015-2016 school year after breaking ground this spring. We’re thankful to God, the community of Doral, our DSA families, and the generous outpouring of our donors…and we can’t wait to see what the next ten years will hold!” remarked School Superintendent Carlos Leyrer.
