VPK online registration arrives in Miami-Dade / Monroe counties

The Early Learning Coalition of Miami- Dade/Monroe has announced the deployment of the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) online registration system. Online registration can be completed at www.elcmdm.org

Parents and caregivers no longer will have to wait in line or take time off from work to enroll their children in VPK. Registration can take place 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The process is as simple as creating a username and password on the Early Learning Coalition of Miami- Dade/Monroe website; entering the child’s information; electronically submitting proof of Florida residency and the child’s birth certificate, and printing out the certificate of eligibility. The parent or caregiver can then enroll the child in the childcare facility of his/her choice.

“The VPK online system is just one more tool that we are using to make sure that all 4-year-olds participate in the VPK program,” said Evelio Torres, president and CEO of the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe.

“Technology allows us to improve customer service and save taxpayers money at the same time. We’ve made the system as simple as possible for the parents and families of our communities hoping they will take advantage of this opportunity for their children.”

The right for a child to attend VPK is in the state constitution. To register for VPK, a child must be 4 years of age by Sept. 1 and a Florida resident.
