Saturday, July 24, marked the culmination of the second signature event at Southland Mall in Cutler Bay, “Kids Week.”

This first-ever mini kids convention proved to be a success for the center attracting families and shoppers.

The week kicked off with a visit from the Miami Heat’s fun-loving mascot, Burnie, who delighted children and families alike. The rest of the week was filled with numerous educational and entertainment- based activities, including an interactive four-hour program from Miami Children’s Museum based on its newest traveling exhibit, “Dino Island;” TD Bank’s “WOW Zone,” teaching children and young adults about the benefits of saving; live entertainment, even a wing-eating contest sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings.

The grand finale was hosted by Radio Disney with a two-hour event on Saturday, July 24, featuring music, games, and prizes.

Also during the finale, co-sponsor and marketing partner MK Travelplan raffled off four cruises on NCL’s new cruise ship, the Epic, to four lucky winners.

Lastly, the first of six Southland Mall Gift Cards being given away this year was presented. This one was valued at $500.
