Palmetto Bay’s got talent, but not right now…

A little song, a little dance… The Palmetto Bay News carried a story a few weeks ago about an upcoming competition for high school students, called the “Good Vibrations” Talent Show, to be held at the Edward & Arlene Feller Amphitheater at Ludovici Park on Saturday November 13, which was of course this past weekend. Cash prizes were offered and juniors and seniors with talent in singing, dancing and/or playing musical instruments were encouraged to enter.

Unfortunately, the talent event was postponed and didn’t happen. We were told that it turned out that several other non-village music related events were also scheduled for that same date, and it is believed that the conflict and perhaps short lead time reduced the interest in the competition. We hear that the “Good Vibrations” Talent Show will be rescheduled for sometime after January 1, and that as soon as a firm date is set the village hall staffers will announce it. And of course, we’ll let our readers know, too. In the meantime, it wouldn’t hurt to keep practicing. If anyone has questions about the event, they are advised to call 305-234-6383.

Speaking of talent, we hear that “Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad” is coming to South Florida and is a refreshing mix of comedy, music, spoken-word and show-stopping burlesque, about the gals who learned to smoke at Hebrew School, got drunk at their Bat- Mitzvahs, and it features performers seen on Comedy Central, HBO and Late Night TV. It’s Wednesday Dec. 8th at 8 p.m. at Next @19 th, located at 137 NE 19th St., Miami, FL. Call 305-542-7732 for more info. Ticket prices are Student/Senior $15, General $20. WELCOME ABOARD TO THE NEW TOWN COUNCIL

Well, folks, the newly elected members of Cutler Bay’s Town Council took the Oath of Office in a formal ceremony on Monday, November 15, at 12:00 p.m. at Town Hall, then had a “Pre-Agenda Meeting” at 2:00 p.m. that same day. The first regular Town Council Meeting with the new crew took place on Wednesday, November 17, at the South Dade Regional Library, so once everybody, old or new, gets settled in we’re sure that your municipal government will be back on track and moving forward to keep things running and getting even better in Cutler Bay. And yes, there are bound to be disagreements and spats from time to time, just like in any large family, but we bet things will be positive overall and look forward to seeing what happens in the coming months. Welcome aboard, everyone!

The Cutler Bay Business Association has its meetings on the 2nd Thursday of each month, so the next one will be on December 9th. For more info, visit their website at http://www.cutlerbaybusinessassociation.com/. There are also useful links there for businesses that want to post job info.

Thought of the Day:

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.
