Old Cutler Towne Center hosts Halloween costume contest

Emily Figueroa, The Cutler Bay Vampire, finished third.

The little ghosts and goblins of the Town of Cutler Bay had plenty to howl about on Saturday, Oct. 27, when Old Cutler Towne Center hosted a thrilling Halloween event and costume contest.

Crowds of trick-or-treating youngsters and their families visited the shopping center where tenants were handing out sweets. Additionally, representatives from the shopping hub set up a spooky costume-contest booth. With more than 50 contestants, entrants ranged from one-of-a-kind homemade ensembles and Disney princesses, to terrifying monsters and mummies.

Felipe Clavijo, The Great Wii controller, won first place.
Choosing the winners was no easy task for the judges, but after much deliberation, the panel awarded first place (and a $150 prize) to Felipe Clavijo, who dressed as a Wii controller; second place (and a $100 prize) to Jorge Salazar, who came as a hiphop robot, and third place (and a $50 prize) to Emily Figueroa, who donned a fang-tastic vampire costume.
