More than 150 residents attended Cutler Bay’s Holiday Movie Night on Friday, Dec. 12, despite weather that had everyone bundled up in their winter clothes.

The movie Elf, starring Will Ferrell, was shown at 7 p.m. at Cutler Ridge Park, 10100 SW 200 St., in the elementary school field.

Residents brought their own blankets and chairs to sit in the grassy area while watching the film. Cutler Ridge Elementary sold concession food and drinks throughout the event.

Mayor Peggy Bell and Vice Mayor Ernie Sochin attended with their families, as did Rafael Casals, town manager. Casals said he was pleased with the turnout.

“Overall we feel the event was a great success and we are planning another Family Movie Night sometime in March,” Casals said. “For me, personally, it was a great opportunity to speak to residents in a relaxed setting on how we are performing as a town.”
