On December 11, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish celebrated the Vigil of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe,  honored by the presence of His Excellency Thomas G. Wenski, Archbishop of Miami. Parishioners recounted the event as the most beautiful “Vigil of our Lady of Guadalupe” that they had seen to date. In addition, it was the Archbishop’s first visit to the parish as Archbishop of Miami.

In the Archbishop’s homily, he reminded the faithful that they must allow Our Lady of Guadalupe to guide them as they overcome all obstacles of secularism, distractions that pull us away from the Lord. He continued by stating that just as St. John the Baptist announced “Prepare the way for the Lord” we prepare the way when we say ‘yes’ to God in Nazareth. From Tepeyac, Our Lady of Guadalupe continues to teach us to say ‘yes’ to the Lord.

At the end of the mass, the Archbishop exhorted parishioners to continue to work hard to find a more permanent worship space, adding in closing remarks: “We are all bearers of good news, like Guadalupe, so that the world we live can come to know the ‘God of Great Truth, One for Whom we live, of the Creator of People…the Lord of Heaven and Earth’.”

The Parish has been abundantly  blessed by the Archbishop’s support.  With the arrival of a new priest, Father Israel Mago, the parish now has a Parish Center located above the Navarro retail store on NW 114 Avenue and 41 Street where the choir and various other ministries can meet and call home.  Father Israel and the parish invite all to join for mass at Doral Academy  High School,  11100 NW 27th Street.  For times and information, tel. 305-593-6123.
