Presented by Greater Miami Youth For Christ, this family-fun event promises something for everyone — for children who find the zoo enchanting, to those who challenge themselves to run a Certified 5K.

Everyone will enjoy the complimentary breakfast of fresh baked cinnamon buns, bagels, Krispy Kreme donuts, healthy fruit, and steaming hot coffee, and a full day at the zoo.

Don’t forget the live entertainment featuring award-winning, jaw-dropping breakdancers, head spinners and adorable kids performing lively songs and choreographed dance routines on a large stage in the middle of one of the zoo’s many fields.

“Each year we grow this event,” said Miami YFC executive director Bonnie Rodriguez,” and this year organizers are expecting a turnout of more than 1,200 runners and walkers. All of the proceeds go toward helping troubled youth throughout Miami-Dade County.

“We reach thousands of youth right where they are — in the neighborhoods, on the campuses, in the jails and through the hiphop culture,” Rodriguez said. “It is very exciting when everyone comes together in one place, for a great cause. Last year’s 5K attracted 927 participants and raised $86,000 in much-needed funds,” she said.

Among the sponsors for the event are: Baptist Health South Florida; the Law Offices of Donald R. Jones PA; Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center of Miami PA; Daniel G. Kalbac, MD, FACS Orthopaedic Surgeon; Courtelis Company; Mendez Insurance Agency; Fit 2 Run, “The Runners Superstore”; El Dorado Furniture; TD Bank; Sunstate Bank; Vasallo & Sloane Law Firm; Falk, Waas, Hernandez, Cortina, Solomon & Bonner, PA; Kirtland Financial Management; Majestic Limousines; Marilyn Brown Photography; Old Cutler Presbyterian Church; Publix Supermarket; LIFE FM Christian Radio, and Winn Dixie.
