A volunteer group formed 55 years ago continues to teach important lifesaving swim lessons at the Venetian Pool.

The Venetian Aquatic Club was formed in 1959 by a group of women who were concerned with the safety of vulnerable residents living near waterways, lakes, pools and the ocean.

Through the years the club and its volunteers have taught thousands of young children and adults how to swim and continues as a volunteer organization supported by the Coral Gables Parks and Recreation Division and the American Red Cross.

Thanks to the large number of volunteer instructors the lessons continue to remain affordable to all participants. Weekly swim lessons are being offered for ages 5 years and older at the Venetian Pool, located at 2701 DeSoto Blvd.
