The Chopin Foundation announces its 2013-14 season of concerts

The Chopin Foundation announces its 2013-14 season of concertsKeeping true to its mission to support and promote the next generation of great American pianists, the Chopin Foundation will present a total of 20 concert dates during the 2013-14 season.

These include “Chopin for All,” seven monthly free concerts, each presented in two locations: on Saturdays at the Broward County Main Library, and on the following Sundays at the Granada Presbyterian Church in Coral Gables; the Salon Series which consists of three intimate concerts followed by a wine reception and dinner at the beautiful La Gorce Country Club on Miami Beach; plus three very special events. This season, in addition to presenting past competitions winners, the Foundation introduces several exciting young rising piano stars to South Florida.

“Chopin ForAll” This free concert series has been offered to South Florida audiences since 1996. The Foundation uses the seasons in between the National Chopin Piano Competition of the U.S., which is held every five years, to promote past winners and introduce a new batch of prospective candidates for the next competition (which will take place in February 2015).

Six young pianists will make their South Florida debuts at the Main Library in Broward and at the Grenada Presbyterian Church in Coral Gables. The seventh program will feature young local pianists who are selected by audition to perform an all Chopin program. These events have become very popular in recent years. No ticket is required and seats fill quickly so attendees should plan to arrive early.

The Salon Series consists of three intimate concerts, each followed by a wine reception and a sumptuous dinner, at La Gorce Country Club, 5685 Alton Rd. in Miami Beach overlooking the gorgeous golf course.

These fundraising events are open to the public and provide an excellent opportunity to meet incredible artists and socialize with other classical music enthusiasts in an absolutely fabulous setting. Due to the increasing popularity of the Salon concerts, advance reservations are required for these events, which are truly a feast for all of the senses.

Special Events The Chopin Foundation will host a series of special events and collaborative programs during the season. This year’s main event will be a Celebration of Chopin’s Birthday on Mar. 1, 2014 at the Manuel Artime Theatre in Little Havana. The Foundation is taking this opportunity to introduce the theater as the new venue for the 2015 National Chopin Piano Competition. Two concerts on Key Biscayne also are being planned.
