Miami Children’s Chorus to spread holiday cheer

As South Florida begins to buzz with holiday preparations, shopping, and festivities, the youngsters of the Miami Children’s Chorus (MCC) are hard at work preparing for their annual holiday concert, “Voices of Angels,” to be presented on Sunday, Dec. 16, 4 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables.

The MCC has been presenting this exuberant holiday performance in the heart of Coral Gables for almost two decades, and it has become a staple of December cultural celebrations within the City Beautiful.

The concert will feature recognizable holiday favorites such as Carol of the Bells and Hark the Herald Angels Sing, in addition to some multi-cultural holiday choral pieces. Selections include: Tis the Gift to Be Simple; Hashivenu, a traditional Israeli folksong; Go Where I Send Thee, an African-American Spiritual, and a few other selections that represent the vast cultural diversity of South Florida communities.

Audience members will be thrilled by the 150-plus children’s voices of the MCC and they even will have an opportunity to join in the holiday singing festivities.

“Voices of Angels,” presents MCC choristers with an opportunity to share their artistry and talent with an audience of approximately 1,000 South Florida visitors and residents. More importantly, it allows MCC choristers to come to the realization that even the most difficult tasks are easily accomplished when approached as a team with discipline, focus, passion, and joy.

“Voices of Angels” beautifully captures the spirit of the holidays, and the magic, which shines most powerfully when a chorus sings as one.

After the concert, stroll down to Miracle Mile and enjoy a tasty treat at a few local establishments. Audience members will have an opportunity to enjoy a discount or complimentary item courtesy of the MCC Holiday on the Mile Restaurant Partnership. Now in its second year, this partnership allows MCC to show its audience how much they appreciate their steadfast support. Most importantly this partnership makes a bold statement that MCC is an active member of the Coral Gables community and is dedicated to the city’s growth and success.

Who knows, you might even get a surprise visit from some MCC carolers as you sit and eat your tasty treats.

Be a part of this exciting concert event on Sunday, Dec. 16, 4 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables, 536 Coral Way. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children, students, and seniors.
