Pack 7 hosted its annual Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby on Apr. 18 at the historic Scout Hut on Granada Golf course in Coral Gables.
More than 65 boys, ages 7-11, competed for trophies and bragging rights in this time-honored race. This event included Cub Scouts from all over the Tequesta District of the Boy Scouts of America.

In this race the boys build and decorate their own cars from a rectangle of pine. The cars then race down the track with the fastest cars in each division winning. Divisions are broken-up according to the age and Den of the Scouts.
Victor Pastor, Cub Master for Pack 7, organized the event.

Top finishers: Tigers (7-year-olds) 1. Aiden Foster, 2. Michael Perez and 3. Drew Jacobs; Wolves (8-year-olds) 1. Alfonso Jurado, 2. Kenny Bouden and 3. David Cohn; Bears (9-year-olds) 1. Anthony Perez, 2. Daniel Aleman and 3. Hernano Cheff-Velez; Webelos (10-yearolds) 1. Nicolas Perez, 2. Carlos Morales and 3. Marcelo Morales.

The overall winner was Nicolas Perez.

  1. Mr. Hamilton,

The last sentence of this article is incorrect-the overall Pinewood Derby winner is Anthony Perez.
My son has the trophy to prove it and I'm very proud of him.

    Sincerely,
    Elisa Lopez
