Jeffrey S. Benjamin, personal injury attorney and popular South Florida networker, has been elected the new president for 2011 of the Business Referral Group — a business networking group which he helped start as a founding member in 1999.

The Business Referral Group, celebrating its 12th anniversary during 2011, meets every Tuesday in Coral Gables to network and exchange business referrals. The group also hosts social and networking events throughout the year and supports local charities with donations.

Other BRG officers for 2011 are Sara Granzotti of Juice Plus+ and health educator, president-elect; Dominic Lamberti of Padgett Business Services, treasurer, and Amy Betancur of EverBank, secretary.
Other BRG board members for 2011 are Derek Cohen of Raymond James, parliamentarian; Louise Gross of Wylly’s Travel, past president; members-at-large Carlos B. Castillo of Dibello, Lopez & Castillo PA; Rosemary Guilfoyle of Public Adjusters Inc., and Jim Carter of Element Funding; Eli Ristine of Pan Florida Realty, website chair, and Jose Meneses of Maxcent Consulting, computer technician, website vice chair; Sammi Siegel of Coral Gables Counseling Center, social committee, and Connie Crowther of Crowther & Company Communications, marketing.

Benjamin has been practicing law since 1982, focusing on personal injury and wrongful death cases. In 1984 he became a partner in a small firm, and in 2001 he established Jeffrey S. Benjamin PA, a solo practice, continuing to focus on personal injury and wrongful death cases.

Benjamin, rated AV by Martindale Hubbell, recently was certified as a Circuit Court Mediator. He is a member of the American Association for Justice and the Florida Justice Association.

He is married to Donna Benjamin, who has been a nurse at Jackson Memorial Hospital for more than 25 years and is currently an IT nurse specialist. They have three daughters, Hailey, Rachel and Sarah.

For the past decade he has been very active with the YMCA Adventure Guides program and currently is a volunteer for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life scheduled for Apr. 9 at Evelyn Greer Park in Pinecrest. He also is a member of a classic rock group called The Eclectics that practices in a garage weekly and will be one of the featured entertainers at the Relay for Life in April.

He went to West Laboratory Elementary School in Coral Gables and Glades Junior High School, graduating from Southwest Miami Senior High School, the University of Florida with a BSBA in Finance, and the University of Miami Law School.

A strong advocate of business networking, Benjamin said, “BRG has been a very effective source for referral business to my practice. Joining BRG effectively gives small business owners such as mine an instant group of more than 30 people who are anxious to give you their business. I don’t know why anybody would not want to join BRG to immediately jumpstart their business. Our weekly meetings last only one hour and it is in the most effective use of my time for marketing purposes.”

The Business Referral Group, one of South Florida’s largest and most successful business networking groups, meets every Tuesday at Anacapri on Ponce restaurant, 2530 Ponce de Leon Blvd., two blocks south of Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. Guests who are interested in and qualify for membership are invited to attend their first meeting free of charge. Reservations are required. Other guests pay $20.

For BRG reservations and membership information, contact Louise Gross at 786-268-2779, or Sara Granzotti at 786-521-2800. Visit the BRG website at <www.businessreferralgroup.org> to see a complete roster of members and their business categories.

Business Referral Group provides a forum for members to expand the scope of their businesses by enabling them to cultivate key business relationships in a positive and enjoyable environment that fosters the exchange of qualified business leads.  BRG was founded in September 1999 by a group of South Florida business owners who were looking for a better way to build their businesses. BRG has a membership policy allowing for only one member representative for each profession.
