Among Dr. Figlesthaler’s interests is the treatment of prostate cancer. He was the first physician to offer robotic prostatectomy in southwest Florida beginning in 2005, and has now performed nearly 1500 procedures using the da Vinci robot. He and his team also use this same minimally invasive technique to treat kidney, urogynecological, adrenal and bladder disorders and cancer.
Dr. Figlesthaler opened his new Coral Gables center after selling his successful practice that consisted of eight urology offices and three surgery centers located on Florida’s west coast. He built that practice over a 17-year period. Dr. Figlesthaler has treated patients with robotic surgery from across the country and internationally. He has been named one of Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors for eight years and running.
Dr. Figlesthaler is a cum laude alumnus of Wake Forest University and graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He completed his urological surgery training at the University of Kentucky, Albert B. Chandler Medical Center.
