Shell Lumber & Hardware is under new ownership after 32 years. While the previous owner, Paul Naron, has retired, he will maintain a minor interest in the company and serve as a consultant. The new owner is local to Miami and has other businesses in the area. President and Chief Operating Officer since November 2012, Jesus Guzman, will stay on in the same capacity and continue to be more visible in the community. Guzman’s involvement with local Chambers of Commerce and Rotary Clubs in Coconut Grove, Coral Gables and Key Biscayne will continue to be a priority. Guzman’s commitment to Shell Lumber & Hardware is to maintain the idea that after 85 years in business, its employees and customers are family and he intends to ensure it stays that way. “I plan on being here to celebrate Shell Lumber & Hardware’s 100th birthday,” said Guzman.
The vision for Shell Lumber & Hardware has always been providing the highest level of service and products and this will not change. Jesus Guzman, the new owner and the entire Shell Lumber & Hardware team of nearly 100 employees come to work every day with the sole mission of making sure that each customer leaves satisfied and has been able to find what they were looking for. The selection at Shell Lumber & Hardware will continue to far surpass many corporate or big box stores and the low price guarantee remains a given.
Of the many things that make Shell Lumber & Hardware unique is the store’s commitment to the neighborhood. From entering a bed in the Great Grove Bed Race to participating in the recent King Mango Strut in Coconut Grove by providing one of their trucks to lead the parade, Shell Lumber & Hardware is involved. In fact, plans are being finalized for the annual Howl in the Wood this Spring during which local live music is combined with local artistry and food for a community event right in the middle of the lumberyard.
The team at Shell Lumber & Hardware will continue to grow and expand their product selection, customer service and employee knowledge It will continue to maintain the small town feel while serving the greater community – from the Keys up to West Palm Beaches.
