Coral Gables Woman’s Club held a “Sex and the City” themed Bunko Night offering members a great way to get together over the summer, typically a down time for most service organizations. Debi Wilborn organized the affair, catered by Terry Cooke, and the ladies came decked out for a fun evening of fun and games.

Among the many members and guests enjoying the social were Barbara Lapsley, Andy Young, Karen Kirby, Linda Hartwell, Frances Baboun, Mayra Dominguez, Marielena Dietz, Debra Adam, Nancy Desmangles, and Kathy Terry. It is not all parties for this industrious group of women. By the way, if you are interested in community service and meeting people who make a difference in our community, Coral Gables Woman’s Club is always looking for new members. You do not have to be a Coral Gables resident to join and, in fact, members come from as far north as Miami Beach, Doral and Miramar to as far south as Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest and South Dade. For more information, go online to coralgableswomansclub. com or contact the Club’s New Member Chair: Debi Willborn at < the2coolgirls@aol.com >. As the summer rolls on, many are leaving Miami for some fabulous trips. Bill Martinez, of Stanfill Funeral Home, just returned from a great trip to Viet Nam and Cambodia while Yoli Woodbridge and Jo Burke cruised to Alaska, a popular trip for so many every summer. Ron Shuffield, of EWM Realtors, surprised wife, Anita, with a trip to Europe and even got tickets for Wimbledon.

Speaking of traveling, Vicki LeMaster, a popular and much loved hair stylist at Jireh Salon in South Miami, has moved to the Carolinas with her daughter Felicia. During her final week tons of clients came by for a final cut, color and blow dry including such notables as Nancy Hogan, Chip and Cindy Withers, Christina Burns and hundreds more, all sad to see her leave South Florida. LeMaster’s mother and sister, who works at MetroZoo, still live in Miami; so, they will be back for visits. Until next week, keep making each day count.

Keeping up with what’s happening in our community is quite a challenge and I am certain there are many activities I miss. If you would like to submit information for this column, please send your news via e-mail to galburns@ aol.com.
