Truluck’s Restaurant opens Miami location on Brickell

Truluck’s Seafood, Steak and Crab House opened in downtown Miami in October with a special invitation only preview event attended by 85 guests.

Located at 777 Brickell Avenue, Truluck’s is part of a family of seafood restaurants which has locations in other Florida cities as well as Texas and California.

Ilde Quintero, managing partner of Truluck’s Miami, was a gracious host for the special event, which featured a champagne reception, live music and a dinner sampling of its best menu items.

“We’re proud and honored to bring the Truluck’s experience to the Miami area,” Quintero said. “This is a savvy, sophisticated market and we’re excited about introducing customers to our fresh approach to seafood.”

Truluck’s boasts the freshest Florida stone crab available, a reputation the restaurant earned by owning and operating its own crab fisheries and fleet of crabbing boats to ensure their product is caught and prepared safely and humanely.

“We don’t just talk fresh seafood,” Quintero said. “Each day, our very own boats go out into the Gulf of Mexico to our fisheries on the Isle of Capri to catch Florida stone crab. We cook ’em, sort ’em, and size ’em at our fisheries, then deliver them to the customer’s table in hours. We only serve them during season, at the very peak of freshness. Truluck’s will never serve frozen Florida stone crab.”

Truluck’s fresh-catch menu is updated seasonally and also offers certified and aged steaks and chops, plus a wine list of 100 selections by the sample, glass and bottle, recognized by Wine Spectator magazine’s “Award of Excellence.”

Environmental stewardship and sustainability drive all aspects of Truluck’s operations. Truluck’s is committed to never serving over-fished, endangered fish species such as the currently endangered Chilean sea bass and sole, and the restaurant chain follows all guidelines of the Ocean Conservancy. Niman Ranch beef, pork and lamb, all 100 percent antibiotic- and hormone-free also are served.

“Truluck’s works hard to bring our customers the best tasting sustainable products that make sense for the plate, palate, and planet,” Quintero said. “We believe that as responsible restaurateurs we must be champions in the movement of sustainable seafood. At Truluck’s we care about taste, quality, people and the health of our planet.”

The atmosphere of the all-new décor, completed just days before opening, is a cozy mixture of traditional and modern styles, with illuminated wine bottles a part of the design as well as the menu.

For the preview, the attentive wait staff in Victorian style livery served courses of fresh Florida stone crab claws, Puget Sound Dungeness crab with goat cheese and Beet Tartare, Sugarlump blue crab cake, roast beef tenderloin with Alaskan king crab Mofongo and lobster garlic sauce and desserts such as chocolate malt cake, carrot cake with cream cheese icing and key lime pie. Each course was paired with a different wine selection chosen to complement the flavorful food.

The restaurant is open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and is open for dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The lounge opens at 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
