The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County will close its 2013-2014 FAMILY FEST season, and sixth consecutive year of providing free entertainment for the whole family, with a special CAMP BROADWAY MIAMI Family Finale performance. 100 CAMP BROADWAY MIAMI campers participating in the Arsht Center’s immersive theater, song and dance summer program will wow South Florida audiences with excerpts from SEUSSICAL JR. and ONCE ON THIS ISLAND JR. in the Center’s Knight Concert Hall on Saturday, June 21 at 1:30 p.m. Admission is FREE*.

“The Arsht Center is thrilled to be the home of the first-ever CAMP BROADWAY MIAMI, a terrific nationally recognized summer program catering to theater-loving kids for almost two decades,” said Scott Shiller, executive vice president of the Adrienne Arsht Center. “It will be a great pleasure to witness these local aspiring young actors, singers and dancers perform for the community on our world-class stage. Make sure not to miss this beautifully inspiring moment during our last free FAMILY FEST of the season!”

CAMP BROADWAY MIAMI participants will perform excerpts from SEUSSICAL JR., a musical by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty based on the books of Dr. Seuss, including “Horton Hears a Who!,” “How Lucky You Are” and ” Oh, The Thinks You Can Think.” Senior campers will perform excerpts from ONCE ON THIS ISLAND JR. Also written by Aherns and Flaherty, the musical tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island. ONCE ON THIS ISLAND uses the power of love to bring together people of different social classes.
