Paris Perfumes Inc., a third generation family-owned business in Miami that distributes perfumes, has reconnected with the owners’ ancestral past by forming a partnership with Caron Paris, the second oldest perfume house in the world.

“When our grandpa started the company, he had just moved his family to Miami from France,” said Yuval Ofir, vice president of Paris Perfumes. “At the beginning, he ran his business from home as he worked to build the brand. Eventually, in the early ’80s he found a location on Fifth Avenue, just around the corner from what eventually became our long-term headquarters. He stayed at that location for a couple of years before the opportunity came up for him to move to the bigger space which we still occupy today.”

They are located at 532 NW 29 St. in Wynwood. Paris Perfumes Inc. now holds the exclusive U.S. distribution rights for Caron Paris and plans to first roll out a collection of Caron Paris’s vintage scents including rare and limited editions along with a men’s series featuring the famed scent Pour un Homme. The rollout is in anticipation for the next generation of scents to be released as a feminine series.

“I’ve always been fascinated with stories, and it seems like there are almost an infinite amount behind the Caron brand given how long it’s been around,” Ofir said. “I love that it’s a brand which has maintained as much as possible of the old world manufacturing techniques, updating them when only necessary to keep up with the modern world’s technology and materials, without sacrificing quality.

“It truly is a privilege to have the opportunity of carrying on a family business into the third generation, and I feel like it comes with the added responsibility of trying to ensure the company continues on in the next one,” he added.

Caron Paris was created in 1904 in Paris by Ernest Daltroff and is considered an avant-garde brand in harmony with art and fashion. Their fragrances will be available in area stores.

“I’m looking forward to this new partnership,” Ofir said. “Caron Paris’ history begins with a significant story of migration, as does our own. It seems that things have come full circle and we’re thrilled to be able to honor the timelessness that both brands share.”
