NACOPRW honors 3 extraordinary Puerto Rican women of distinction

The National Conference of Puerto Rican Women (NACOPRW) recently honored three extraordinary Puerto Rican Women of Distinction in Miami.

The three women honored were Lucy DelValle-Noriega, winner of the 2011 Alicia Baró Achievement Award; Lillian De Los Santos, winner of the 2011 Outstanding Community Service Award, and Lillian Rivera, winner of the 2011 Outstanding Professional Performance and Community Service Award.

The Alicia Baró Achievement Award celebration took place at the DoubleTree Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay I on Mar. 27, the proceeds will go to the NACOPRW scholarship fund. The NACOPRW scholarship is open to female students of Puerto Rican descent who meet the scholarship application requirements. Scholarship awards are scheduled for May 21.

“It is a great privilege and honor to celebrate these three extraordinary Puerto Rican women in our community,” said Elizabeth Erazo Baez, president of NACOPRW. “Lucy DelValle-Noriega, Lillian Rivera and Lillian De Los Santos are role models of great leadership, dedication, and as caring daily contributors to the betterment of our community.”

NACOPRW is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that promotes the full participation of Puerto Rican and other Hispanic women in the economic, social and political life of the United States and Puerto Rico. Through the years NACOPRW has been recognized for its involvement in the community and efforts on women’s rights.
