Miami-Dade Marina SMS Alerts now available for local boaters

The Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department invites boaters to sign up for the new Miami-Dade Marina SMS Alerts service. The application provides instant alerts to hazardous weather conditions, as well as boat ramp closures and re-openings, so boaters can better plan and prepare for their day out on the water.

To register for Miami-Dade Marina SMS Alerts visit online at http://1.usa.gov/1lXqz5p and enter your name, phone number and email address on the form. You may select to receive information on any or all six Miami-Dade County Parks Marinas. Upon completion you will receive an email confirming your enrollment for this service.

You also may complete your registration by phone texting the words “Join MDSMS” to number 34292 from the registered mobile phone. Once your registration is complete, you will receive a text confirmation. Standard message and data rates may apply to each text message sent or received, and other charges may apply as defined in your wireless service rate plan. Contact your wireless carrier for pricing plans and details.

You may also opt-out of this service at any time by phone texting “STOP” to short code 34292. Opt-outs online will receive an email confirmation and those by phone with a text confirmation. Note that you may receive SMS notification messages while the system is updating.
