With its students, employees and the community’s needs in mind, Miami Dade College (MDC) Medical Campus recently celebrated the opening of its new Wellness Clinic with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Wellness Clinic will provide services to Medical Campus students and Medical Campus part-time employees. It will provide physical exams, labs, drug screening, HIV testing, bone density scans and EKGs. Services to the community-atlarge are being planned for a later time.

The Wellness Clinic also provides Medical Campus students with an additional site for program required clinical rotations, which they presently attend at area hospitals, clinics, and doctors’ offices. Off-campus clinical rotation sites require students to undergo various physical exams prior to their first day of rotations.

Because the Wellness Clinic is located on the Medical Campus, students will be able to have these physical exams performed conveniently while on campus at a low cost, helping them fulfill clinical site requirements.

MDC is recognized as one of the outstanding colleges in the nation. Through its Medical Campus, the college provides a wealth of clinical and educational opportunities for students entering into the high demand fields of healthcare. In addition to being Miami-Dade County’s primary educator and trainer of healthcare professionals, Medical Campus also houses one of the largest nursing schools in the United States.
