Marlins Park, home of the Miami Marlins, hosted a day to remember on June 13.

The day began at 10 a.m. with the attendance of hundreds of families looking to adopt a new pet at the Adopt-O-Mania event that preceded the Miami Marlins vs. Colorado Rockies baseball game. Many animal lovers — including Marlins’ players Carter Capps, Steve Cishek, Mike Dunn, Brad Hand and Tom Koehler — visited the adoption area and enjoyed interacting with the adorable dogs and cats that were showcased by the Humane Society of Greater Miami, Miami-Dade Animal Services and The Cat Network. By the end of the day, a whopping 140 pets were adopted and started a new life with loving “forever families.”

To add to a day full of happy “tails” was the Miami Marlins’ annual Bark at the Park, where families brought along their special canines to enjoy America’s favorite pastime — a baseball game. All of the proceeds from the sale of more than 400 doggie tickets benefitted the Humane Society of Greater Miami. It was a jubilant experience indeed, seeing all of the families with their fourlegged friends enjoying the game and watching the Marlins triumph over the Rockies.

“We are very grateful to the Miami Marlins and all the wonderful families who came out with their dogs to support animals in need,” said Laurie Hoffman, executive director of the Humane Society of Greater Miami. “We were super appreciative to receive a generous donation of $2,000 from the Miami Marlins right before the game started, in addition to more than $4,000 received from the doggie tickets sold.”

The annual Bark at the Park is a truly must-see and must-go experience. To learn more about the next Bark at the Park visit www.humanesocietymiami.org.
