Kids Making Connections at ACND Prep’s Summer Knights Day Camps

1If you are looking for a summer camp within easy reach to Downtown Miami, Wynwood, Midtown, Miami Beach, or the Design District, look no further! Archbishop Curley Notre Dame Prep’s Summer Knights day camps for tweens and teens, are a perfect and affordable solution this summer.

The campus, located in Miami´s Design District, has newly renovated tennis courts, baseball and softball fields, plus a football field, outdoor track, and gymnasium.

Both camps offer an opportunity to develop skills, but also connect and learn from professionals in related areas of focus. Fun activities and lunch are also included. The camps will run from June 16th to July 18th for only $100.00 per week and multiple week discounts are available.

 

Summer Knights Visual and Performing Arts Camp6

Discover: Music and Drama

Develop: Visual art skills with a special focus on Photography and Animation

Connect: Visit studios, galleries, and museums and connect with Miami artists

 

Week 1: June 16-20

Story & Character Development: Write a story, learn character design techniques, and create a storyboard.

Field Trip: O’Cinema (Wynwood) with onsite screening and lighting/camera demo by FilmGate/Indie Film Club

 

Week 2: June 23-27

Landscape & Interior Settings: Scout and photograph different settings to find perfect backdrop.

Workshop: Instructors from the Perez Art Museum Miami/PAMM (Downtown Miami) will present a hands-on experience related to the museum’s “Americana” exhibit.

Field Trip: Guided tour of De la Cruz Collection (Miami Design District)

 

Week 3: June 30–July 3

Animation Sequence: Create footage recording with traditional photographic camera and build movement and action using photographic stills.

Field Trip: Guided tour of the “Americana” exhibit at PAMM (Downtown Miami)

 

Week 4: July 7 – July 11

Sound & Editing: Search for the perfect character voice and setting sounds for animated short.

Field Trip: Guided tour of the Wynwood Walls and Galleries by Wynwood Art Walk

 

Week 5: July 14 – July 18

Post-Production & Animated Shorts Premiere: It’s Show Time! Campers will make posters and cover art in preparation of the animated shorts premiere, exhibit, and performing arts show.

Workshop: Musical performance and Spoken Word demonstration by Omilani.

 

5Summer Knights Sports Camp

The Summer Knights Athletic Camp teaches the fundamentals of sports and competition with each week focusing on a new area. ACND´s Athletic Director Greg Magner, who was named the 2003 Dade County Football Coach of the Year, heads the camp.

Week 1: Basketball
Week 2: Basketball
Week 3: Football &Volleyball
Week 4: Basketball, Tennis, & Soccer
Week 5: Baseball, Softball, & Wrestling

The sports camp is led by Coaches with 5 to 40 years of coaching experience and each week, students can connect with sports professionals who will provide guidance in athletics and life.
