Katherine Phillips-Chaplin Named Chair of Florida Festival and Events Association

The Florida Festivals and Events Association (FFEA), the state’s primary professional organization for producers, vendors, and sponsors of festivals, fairs and special events, recently announced the election of directors and officers for its Board of Directors.

Leading the 2012 – 2013 FFEA Board of Directors as its Chair is Katherine Phillips-Chaplin, of the Coconut Grove Arts Festival in Coconut Grove.

Phillips-Chaplin has served as Chief Operating Officer of the Coconut Grove Arts & Historical Association, Inc., producer of the Coconut Grove Arts Festival®, since 2003. During her near 10-year tenure, Phillips-Chaplin successfully transitioned the Arts Festival from a non-paid event to a gated, paid event and achieved the coveted ranking as the number one outdoor fine arts festival in the nation by Sunshine Artist Magazine. As the Arts Festival approaches its 50th anniversary, she continues to manage daily operations and staffing, as well as oversee the event’s marketing, financial and media activities.

Addition officers of the 2012 – 2013 FFEA Board of Directors are as follows: Vice Chair – Patti Hamilton, Southern Waste Systems (Lantana) Secretary – Sandy Price, Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival (Fernandina Beach); Treasurer – Rita DeMier, South Florida Fair (West Palm Beach) and Past-Chair – Kimberly Faulk, VISIT FLORIDA (Tampa).

Five new directors were elected to the Board: Dan Goode, SunFest (West Palm Beach), Matt Fillioe, Complete Ticket Solutions (Fort Laurderdale), Chris Liberatore, Pyrotecnico (Pompano Beach), JD Linn, Haas & Wilkerson Insurance, and Mason Meyer, Zambelli (Boca Raton).

In addition to the officers and new directors, Harvey Campbell, Sarah Martin, Dutch Sanger, Lanie Shapiro, Joe Shipes and Brandy Truex will all remain on the Board of Directors.
