Boys and Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade executive director Alex Rodriguez-Roig has announced that Barry Stein recently was named chair of the organization’s board of directors. Stein will serve in the prestigious volunteer position for a twoyear term.
In his position, Stein will lead the board of directors and Boys and Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade to continue to improve the lives of youth in the community.
He has been active in Boys and Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade since 2006 and joined the organization’s Executive Committee in 2007.
He has served as legal counsel to Boys and Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade since 2010.In addition to advising on various day-to-day matters, Stein played a large role in the negotiations for Boys and Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s Flamingo Park facility, and the organization’s partnership with Mater Grove, a public charter school in Coconut Grove, where Boys and Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade holds after-school care programs, including homework assistance, arts and crafts, sports, etc.
In 2011, Stein was honored with the Man and Youth Award from the Florida Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs.
Stein graduated from Miami Beach Senior High School, received degrees in accounting and law from the University of Florida and a master’s in tax law from New York University.
He practiced law in Atlanta for 30 years, where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions, and complex business transactions. Stein and his wife moved to Miami in 2005 where he practiced law and then retired in 2008. They live in the Brickell area.
