Monty Trainer, president of the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, recently was presented with an Ultimate Miami CEO Award by the South Florida
Business Journal during a ceremony conducted in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood. The annual arts festival has consistently been named one of the best fine arts festivals in the nation by Sunshine Artist magazine.
The Ultimate Miami CEO Awards program recognizes business leaders in Miami- Dade County for their achievements, vision and dedication to excellence. Trainer was one of 10 leaders from different organizations selected for having made significant contributions to the local community.
“I am honored to have won this award,” Trainer said. “The Coconut Grove Arts Festival is not just an organization that puts on an annual event, but one that truly strives to shape, and be shaped by, the community it represents.”
“I thank the South Florida Business Journal for the recognition of not just my efforts, but more importantly of my team — of the vision of those on staff and within the board who make our Arts Festival No. 1 in the nation.”
The Coconut Grove Arts Festival is produced by the Coconut Grove Arts and Historical Association, a non-profit organization that helps to fund year-round arts programs. The association also maintains the Coconut Grove Arts Festival Gallery and presents special exhibitions throughout the year from its location at the Shoppes at Mayfair. Since its inception in 1963, the association has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships to students who attend fine arts programs in local schools.
