Steve Nivet, Regions Bank South Florida Area president, will serve as chair for the American Heart Association’s 2013 Miami-Dade Heart Walk, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Marlins Park.
This calendar year marks his eighth year of volunteering with the organization during which he has spearheaded Regions fundraising efforts in both Tampa and Miami.
In 2012, Nivet served on the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) for the Miami-Dade Heart Walk and previously had been involved with the Tampa Bay Heart Walk’s Executive Leadership Team along with various cultural organizations in markets he served.
In 2011, Regions was recognized as a top new fundraising company for Miami- Dade and the top overall fundraising company for Miami-Dade in 2012, exceeding their goal both years.
As chair, Nivet will spend the next several months leading community fundraising efforts by securing sponsorship and corporate/individual participation and working closely with the ELT to drive success. This year, the American Heart Association and volunteer leadership has a fundraising goal of $800,000.
Combining fitness and philanthropy, this annual walk brings together corporate sponsors, walk teams, individual walkers, survivors of heart disease and stroke and lifestyle change heroes who are all taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle while raising funds to combat heart disease and stroke, the No. 1 and No. 4 leading killers, respectively, of American men and women. Proceeds go toward research, education and community programs.
Activities at the event include a special kid’s zone, health screenings, games, entertainment and a free lunch provided by Subway.
Regions Bank is a sponsor of the 2013 Miami-Dade Heart Walk. National sponsors include Subway and Jenny Craig. For more information, call 1-954-492-6913 or visit www.miamidadeheartwalk.org
