Nearly 300 aging services, insurance and healthcare professionals recently gathered at Jungle Island for the 23rd annual Installation and Luncheon of the Alliance for Aging, where nine outstanding individuals were recognized for their extraordinary contributions.

The President’s Award was presented to Rev. Dale Young, director of Congregational Health at Baptist Health South Florida. The award honors an individual who has demonstrated longterm commitment and dedication to improving the lives of the elderly in the community.

“I give credit for this award to the hundreds of faith-based volunteers who provide free services to seniors in their homes,” Rev. Young said. “Congregational Health provides the training that enables our faith-community partners to share the care in an organized way.”

The Alliance for Aging provides a broad range of resources and access to quality services for older adults and their families in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. The organization funds home- and communitybased services that help keep people at home and out of institutional care.

The Department of Congregational Health at Baptist Health South Florida has been serving the faith communities of the Miami-Dade area since 1997 through a faith-health coalition that has now grown to 144 partnering congregations. The core programs of health education, health screenings, care teams, faith-health support groups and bereavement support reflect the vision and mission of Baptist Health South Florida. Baptist Health South Florida is the largest faith-based, not-for-profit healthcare organization in the region.

Baptist Health includes Baptist Hospital, Baptist Children’s Hospital, South Miami Hospital, Homestead Hospital, Doctors Hospital, Mariners Hospital, West Kendall Baptist Hospital, Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute and Baptist Outpatient Services.
