The Miami-Dade Family Learning Partnership and Aventura Mall have teamed up to host The Book Shop, an exciting summer book fair event for children and young adults, on Sunday, June 2nd from 12 noon to 6 p.m. in Center Court. In addition to various books from school summer reading lists, visitors will have the opportunity to purchase new, best-sellers from acclaimed children’s authors at a great value.
Emmy Award-winning Page Turner Adventures, producer of The Great Pizza Contest, will entertain kids with the “World Famous Storyologist” Riley Roam, Page Turner and former Ringling Bros. clown Kenny Mikey. Plus, live entertainment, character appearances and raffle prizes will create a day of fun for the entire family.
Visitors of all ages will also enjoy book signings and readings by award-winning children’s authors Lisa McCourt, author of I Love You Stinky Face; Lucia Gonzalez, author of Bossy Gallito; Donna Gephart, author of How to Survive Middle School; Janeen Mason, author of Ocean Commotion Series and Cheryl Holder, author of Pumpkin Soup is for Sunday.
Books will be priced from $2-$20 and 100 percent of the book sales will benefit The Miami-Dade Family Learning Partnership, a non-profit organization that collaborates with community agencies and institutions to improve child and family well-being. This event will support their community literacy programs. The Book Shop will also have children’s school novelty items.
Sponsors of The Book Shop include the Scholastic, Books 4 School, Infinity Auto Insurance, Maccabi Art, PC Depot and Miami Marlins.
