Know Your Stats event to raise awareness of prostate cancerOn Sunday, September 16th at noon, seven South Florida hospitals will partner to cheer on the hometown Miami Dolphins against the Oakland Raiders during Know Your Stats, a free football viewing party to raise awareness about men’s health. Aventura Hospital and Medical Center will serve as a co-sponsor alongside Northwest Medical Center, Plantation General Hospital, University Hospital and Medical Center, Westside Regional Medical Center, Mercy Hospital and Kendall Regional Medical Center.
The festivities will begin at noon with the pre-game show and continue into game time as the rivalry is broadcast on six large combined screens at Privet, a grand theater room in Gulfstream Park Racetrack and Casino. The room will be filled with delicious trays of traditional tailgating favorites and booths displaying educational information about men’s health issues from prostate cancer to healthy lifestyle tips.
Part of “Know Your Stats,” a national public awareness campaign to promote the American Urological Association (AUA) prostate cancer screening guidelines, the event will boast a team of experts ready to provide valuable educational information between first downs and timeouts. The AUA and the National Football League (NFL) joined forces to launch this campaign in 2009 to encourage all men over the age of 40 to ask their doctors important questions about their prostate health.
Men’s health experts from each of the seven hospitals will be on hand to answer questions and provide valuable information about men’s health, while the game roars in the background. Privet at Gulfstream Park Racetrack and Casino is located at 901 S. Federal Highway in Hallandale Beach. The event is free and open to the public. Valet parking is available.
