O&G wins 2012 National Mature Media Awards

The 21st annual National Mature Media Awards program recently recognized O’Connell & Goldberg’s (O&G) inventive PR and marketing efforts with three awards on behalf of the agency’s client, Forest Trace, a South Florida luxury retirement community. The awards honor the nation’s finest marketing, communications, educational materials, and programs designed and produced for older adults.

Staying Alive, a video O&G created to celebrate “Older Americans Month” that starred community residents, received a Silver Award for DVDs/CDs in the Healthcare division http://tinyurl.com/8bvuc8l. The agency won Bronze Awards in the Healthcare Consumer/Public Relations Campaign category for the Forest Trace Annual Golden Matzah Bowl competition http://tinyurl.com/9748fxe and Turn Back Time Awards http://tinyurl.com/9dv6zko.

The Golden Matzah Bowl, which generates widespread media coverage each year, determines the best South Florida “professional” matzah ball and best “homemade” recipes, with winners receiving an award and donation to the charity of their choice.

The Turn Back Time Awards honors persons 80 and older who continue making significant contributions to the community.

According to O&G CEO Barbara Goldberg, understanding the aging population is vital in today’s market. Under the leadership of staff member Karen Dennis, a former assisted living professional, the agency has produced dozens of creative concepts to effectively capture the attention of senior consumers as well as boomers.

“Who says retirement communities can’t be fun and relevant? Some of our best recent work, including social media initiatives, has emanated from our experience with the mature market,” she added.

A panel of mature market experts from across the United States judged nearly 1,000 entries for overall excellence of design, content, creativity and relevance to the senior market.
