The presidential race had already been decided, but there was still one more important vote to be counted. After 19 days of Facebook and Twitter balloting, creamy edged crunchy 155-151 in O’- Connell & Goldberg (O&G) PR’s National Peanut Butter Lovers Month poll.

To add a charitable twist, the PR firm delivered 306 jars (one for each vote) to The Pantry of Broward Inc. a registered non-profit 501c (3) serving seniors on low fixed incomes and grandparents raising their grandchildren in Broward County.

“The lure of anything related to peanut butter always appeals to me,” said O&G President Barbara Goldberg. “More importantly, this drive supports our company’s mission at being genuinely good at what we do, while using the power of communication for the force of good.”

The peanut butter was provided by O&G and other tenants of 450 North Park Road in Hollywood, including the office of Dr. Elias Mualin, iConsulting Inc., Hartman and Hartman, P.A., Andrew Greene, CPA, PA and others. Peanut butter donations were also made by Aventura Mall, Best Roofing, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Teddie Peanut Butter-The Leavitt Corporation, Peanut Butter & Co. and Justin’s.

“High in protein, peanut butter is an in-demand item at the Pantry, but due to its high price, not something we usually receive in great quantity” explained Terrence Smalley, director of marketing and online services at The Pantry. “These 300+ jars were the perfect addition to our Thanksgiving boxes.”

Smalley hopes peanut butter collections continue throughout the year, particularly during the summer. Organizations interested in spearheading a food or holiday toy drive should contact Lydya Chapman at 954-358-1481, ext. 108.
