North Shore Medical Center acknowledges three exemplary employees as part of its HospitalWeek celebrations (May 10-16). Adrian Wilson-Lewis, medical transcriptionist, was named the 2015 Tenet Hero; Marie Cius, a patient care technician, was recognized as the 2015 Employee of the Year; and Frankline “Frankie” Rene, RN, was chosen as the 2015 Nurse of the Year. “Thanks to these hard working employees and the rest of our dedicated staff, North Shore is able to continually provide the high level of care our patients have come to trust,” said Manny Linares, CEO of North Shore Medical Center.

Wilson-Lewis received the Tenet Hero award for epitomizing the company’s values of quality, service and integrity. She stepped up when her department was in need of extra help and always maintained a cheerful demeanor.

Cius has earned the respect of her peers at North Shore, specifically in the maternity department where she is stationed, for giving her all from the moment she comes to work until the moment she leaves. She is described as kind, hardworking and committed to putting her patients’ needs above anything else.

Rene was recognized as Nurse of the Year in part due to her innovative thinking in North Shore’s Critical Care Unit. In addition to her nursing duties, she steps in for unit directors when needed and ensures that all employees are educated on hospital procedures. Rene has also provided input on ways to reduce hospital infections. Through this year’s National Hospital Week theme, Where Miracles Happen Every Day, hospitals throughout the U.S. recognized the men and women who support the health of their communities through dedication and compassionate care. They also celebrated the miracles that happen on a day-to-day basis, both large and small.
