Tri-Rail invites talented kids to audition for “South Florida’s Kids Got Talent,” a singing competition for youth ages 5 to 17. Kids throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties will compete for a chance to perform at Tri-Rail’s sixth annual “Rail Fun Day” community celebration, where one act will be awarded a $500 grand prize. Auditions will be held on Sat., Dec.7 at SFRTA/Tri-Rail’s Administrative Offices, located at 800 NW 33rd Street in Pompano Beach.
“Tri-Rail is excited to once again showcase the incredible talent of our local youth,” said Bonnie Arnold, public information officer of SFRTA/Tri-Rail. “With our 25th anniversary celebration underway, this is the perfect platform to connect with families and further our position as the way to travel throughout the region.”
Over the past two years, South Florida’s Kids Got Talent has brought together several talented acts all on one stage. Shelsie Mattaranz of Pembroke Pines won the first annual competition with her rendition of Beyonce’s “Listen” from the “Dreamgirls” soundtrack. Last year, Sivan Ben-David of Ft. Lauderdale took home the grand prize, performing “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from the classic movie “Funny Girl” and popular hit television show “Glee.”
The competition is open to solo or group singers who are South Florida residents ages 5-17. Each act will have a 4-minute opportunity to perform at the auditions. A panel of judges will select the acts that will compete in the final competition, which is scheduled for Jan. 25 during Tri-Rail’s “Rail Fun Day.” Only one act will be selected to win the $500 grand prize.
