Holiday Time

The Holidays are here !
So be of good cheer.
Stop rushing and doing
And especially stewing…
About all that has yet to be done.
Be sure to enjoy and have some fun.

It is so easy to get caught up in all of the hustle and bustle of the season. It is so easy to miss the major message of the holidays. It is so easy to feel frazzled and lose focus on what is important. Don’t waste this time of year on chores and obligations. Spend quiet time contemplating the meaning of the holidays. Take the time to take care of your own needs. Find time to savor some special moments and to create special memories for yourself and for your family and friends.

Suspend any cynicism and diminished faith in human nature that you might feel at this time. While you encourage your children to believe in miracles, allow yourself to renew and strengthen your own belief in those wonderful, unexplainable, remarkable, extraordinary, events, called miracles that can occur. Reassure the doubtful and forlorn individuals to believe as well. Frequently, you can even make a miracle happen in the lives of others who are not part of your family or your immediate circle of friends.

Get something for someone who might not receive any gifts at all. Some people are not on anyone’s list. Create a new tradition. Enlarge your heart and your giving to include the neglected and the forgotten. It will feel like a miracle for them.

The holidays are about light. They are about creating light to dispel the darkness. They are about trust and faith and about reassuring the world that the light will return. Let in the lights of the holiday. Let them surround you and let them warm your spirit and your heart. Bring your inner light to others. Make their lives sparkle and shine, if you can. You can if your try.
