The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1921 to promote the economic wellbeing of Miami Beach citizens, to improve the quality of life for the community and to communicate the views of the business community on major issues of public policy.
For the past seven years, they have recognized the accomplishments of outstanding business professionals at their Champions of Business Award Luncheon. Honored recipients of 2013 include: Russell Galbut, Stephanie Ruiz, Alan Randolph and Ken Hendel.
Owner of Gallery Art in Aventura, Ken Hendel has been honored with the Small Business of the Year Award, which is given to individuals who have dedicated their time to the community, while growing their company’s achievements in management and innovation.
Celebrating 25 years at the same 8,000 sq. ft. Aventura location, Hendel has turned Gallery Art into an internationally recognized go-to gallery for works by artists like Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein and TomWesselmann. He also buys and sells original oils, mixed media, limited edition graphics and sculptures, from Romero Britto and Peter Max to original Picassos.
Passionate about Miami, Hendel sees his backyard as “the next art capital of the world and the future hub of quality art.” As an active member of the Executive Board of Governors of the Miami Beach Chamber, a member of the AventuraMarketing Council and an advisor for public art projects, he has proven himself a worthy recipient of such an award.
