Heritage Park in Sunny Isles Beach hosts the kick-off event for the 2014-2015 edition of Florida International University’s Biscayne Bay Campus Prestige Cultural Arts Series.

The series commences with FIU’s Jazz and Pop Band performing at 6:00 pm at the park, located at 19200 Collins Avenue. This continues a 5 year partnership between FIU’s Prestige Cultural Arts Series with the City of Sunny Isles Beach and FIU’s School of Music. The event is free for residents of Sunny Isles Beach, and $10 per person for all others.

“We are thrilled to partner again with our community sponsors to present the Prestige Cultural Series,” said Steven V. Moll, Vice Provost of BBC, noting that Sunny Isles Beach has been a partner since the series inception and is lead sponsor for this event.

The concert sets a tone of jazz for this year’s Series, with a reception and jazz film introduced by film aficionado Shelly Isaacs on Sunday, November 16, in the newly remodeled Panther Square in the Wolfe University Center on the Biscayne Bay Campus. Spring events include a vocal jazz concert by FIU’s Vocal Performance Department in March, and dinner with a film in February.

Additional Prestige Cultural Series sponsors include Bal Harbour Village, the Town of Golden Beach, Dr. Jules Oaklander, The Honorable and Mrs. Billy Joel, and Harold and Jan Solomon.
