Florida International University’s Esther and Gerald Rosenberg Scholarships were awarded to Terry Williams and Timothy Clark, Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue, and Mirkala Huffman, wife of Aventura Policeman, Mark Huffman. The awardees are selected based on their academic achievements and involvement in community service.

Mr. and Mrs. Rosenberg joined the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Station 8 crew in Aventura for the award ceremony where Terry Williams and Timothy Clark accepted their award certificates. This will continue to be a landmark occasion for the department as they receive gratifying positive responses for the professionalism and commitment of their personnel. “They are the real heroes. We give appreciation for all they do for us and the residents in Aventura,” said Jerry Rosenberg.

The scholarship was the vision of Esther and Gerald Rosenberg, residents of the City of Aventura. Esther and Gerald wanted to give back to their community and reward the efforts of their police, firefighters and emergency responders.

The Esther and Gerald Rosenberg Scholarship at FIU is available by accepted application to all uniformed personnel, their dependents of the Aventura Police Department and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue station personnel who serve the City of Aventura.
