  1. as the temperature starts to climb and mosquitoes begin to infest us and look for pooling water to call their home, i can direct them to a street that i live on, NE 20th Ave in Highland Lakes. When you can't go outside in the late afternoon because of the pooling water in your driveway and sidewalks because you would become the "Blue Plate Special" for the "No see ems" and mosquitoes , some carrying some heavy germs , something is wrong. When you have been complaining for over 5 years and nothing s done , something is wrong, and when the street around the corner from your home is getting drains because a high powered attorney lives there, something is wrong, wouldn't you say?
So if i have to take my case to the press, WTVJ, , The Herald, and produce a commercial on TV why not to move into this particular area i will do that too. During the past week when we had 8" of rain fall in 6 hours, i drove around the highland lake estates area and notice more flooded driveways than non flooded ones and when i noticed the flooded one had no drains and the relatively dry ones had them i could only draw one conclusion, yes you guessed it they HAD DRAINS, it seems to me that when you pay high real estate taxes that is one item that should be taken care of if for nothing more than to stop and prevent a health hazard, forgetting about looking neat and clean and making the neighborhood look as our chamber of commerce and local commissioners like to portray it, "AS THE AREA YOU WOULD WANT TO MOVE INTO AND RAISE A FAMILY' only if that family wants to get bitten by bugs and navigate flooded driveways like crossing over a moat.
I guess you would say i am just a little annoyed and upset but then again why should i expect better from our local government, who only care for "certain" areas and people. I wonder if those people help to get them elected ??? Hmmmmmmm a point to ponder..
