Comm. Sally Heyman and community leaders sponsor free spay/neuter for cats

Sally Heyman- spay neuterIn an effort to continue her commitment to control the overpopulation of cats in Miami-Dade County, Commissioner Sally Heyman is sponsoring another free spay/neuter event in District 4. Commissioner Heyman is joined by Biscayne Park Mayor and Council, and Miami Shores Mayor Holly and Councilmembers Davis and Ledesma along with Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department to offer the free spay/neuter surgeries for cats on Saturday, April 18 at Biscayne Park Ed Burke Recreation Center located at 11400 NE 9th Ct, Biscayne Park. To make an appointment call 311; all cats must be dropped off at the event at 7:30 a.m.

“I hope people will take advantage of community efforts to reduce animal overpopulation,” said Commissioner Sally Heyman. “I am grateful to Biscayne Park for again hosting another spay/neuter event.” This event is open to all residents of Miami-Dade County and to those working on the trap, neuter and release program to facilitate the reduction of community cats.

Service for Miami-Dade County residents ONLY. Maximum of four (4) appointments per residential address. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be provided for all cats presented, otherwise they will be vaccinated for free. All cats will be sterilized, dewormed and ear- tipped. Veterinarian may decline surgery of any pet due to health reasons. Please call 3-1-1 to schedule an appointment.
